Ranking the top four magicians on ‘Penn & Teller: Fool Us’..

( By Andrew Granville) Penn & Teller quickly became some of the most popular magicians in magic several years ago. Their act sells out every night several weeks or months in advance thanks to the pure spectacular nature of what they do. Their tricks often involve explaining their magic to an audience and showing that audience exactly how it is done. From that idea, the two came up with the hit show ‘Penn & Teller: Fool Us’ On the show, magicians perform magic and attempt to trick Penn & Teller. If the magician successfully fools Penn & Teller, he/she wins a trip to Vegas and a chance to perform as an opening act for Penn & Teller. Is there something sports franchises could learn from David Copperfield’s act?..

I’m not a magic guy. I’m not into illusions necessarily. Still, I ended up at David Copperfield’s show at the MGM Grand over the weekend… mostly because I was interested in exploring the staying power of an act that has remained a constant on The Strip while everything else seemingly comes and goes.

It makes me think about sports. Why do certain sports franchises have staying power? What’s with the Patriots and Spurs? Is it as simple as Bill Belichick and Gregg Popovich? Sports is entertainment, right? Both are competitive arenas. As long as we’re studying the greatness of the Patriots and Spurs is there something a sports franchise seeking staying power could learn from an act like Copperfield? Son of Mandrake the Magician saddened after ‘magical house’ destroyed by fire…

The son of the famous late local magician Leon Mandrake says he was saddened to learn his old family house — including its secret rooms and passages — had been destroyed by fire.

The home, located on the corner of Grosvenor Road and Kindersley Drive in Surrey, B.C., went up in flames early Sunday morning.

“It was a very magical house — and a very happy home for a very long time,” said Lon Mandrake, whose father Leon was a renowned magician and illusionist who lived in the house until his death in 1993. Read more and watch videos..
