A wave of the hand, a trick of the eye..

A wave of the hand, a trick of the eye..

By Bill Brownstein for The Gazette

MONTREAL — Richard Sanders performs an incredible feat on stage. Something akin to alchemy. He can take a $20 bill and transform it into a cool $100.

“The funny thing, though, is that this trick never works offstage, in real life,” says Sanders, holding court on the Comedy Nest stage. “If it did, I might be inclined to give up this magic business.”

The Montreal native is considered to be one of the world’s greatest sleight-of-hand magicians. He even fools other magicians. He has also imparted some of his knowledge to such superstars as Criss Angel, David Blaine and David Copperfield.

Sanders, 45, has been mystifying audiences around the world for 25 years. He will do more of the same Sunday at the Comedy Nest, when he performs along with such noted tricksters as Jonathan Burns and the legendary Romaine in a spectacle with the hopefully prophetic title Spectacular Sunday!

Berjaoui, who earned the designation “Best Illusionist”, was up against performers in 12 other countries in Africa and the Middle East….

Darcy happy to give magic good name..

Darcy happy to give magic good name..

Thanks to Yahoo TV and Press Association..

Britain’s Got Talent magician Darcy Oake has said he is grateful to get some recognition for his act, because there are so many bad magicians around that it can be difficult for people to get excited about.

Darcy is Canadian but has come to the UK to compete in the ITV talent contest in the hope of launching his career, and flew through to the live semi-finals with approval from all the judges, including known magic-hater Simon Cowell.

He said: “Magic is never really the most respected art form and it’s kind of, I wouldn’t say looked down on, but it’s like, ‘Oh right, you’re a magician, right here we go…’ Because in the grand scheme of things, there are a lot of bad magicians…
