Teller’s Favorite Gadgets—Some of Them Magical..

Before bed, I’m very eccentric-looking because I wear Solar Shield glasses over my reading glasses while using my Kindle Voyage. They’re hideous, and if you don’t want to look like a ludicrous monster, don’t wear them. But they block out the blue light that has been shown to keep people awake. On my computers, I use a free program called f.luxthat pulls the blue frequencies out and emphasizes the warmer colors that interfere less with sleep.

I use a teleprompter app on my iPhone called ProPrompter when I deliver a 40-minute lecture called “The Beautiful Lie.” When somebody explains a magic trick to you so you understand every aspect of it, from the technical to the psychological to the historical, it becomes more wondrous than the first time you saw it.  Read more:

On a balmy spring Saturday night, pretty young things pour into theNoMad Hotel. There’s an Adrien Brody sighting in the lobby, but the scantily clad girls in bandage dresses and sky-high Louboutins aren’t here to meet movie stars.

They’re here for a magic show.

Or, more specifically, to lock eyes with Dan White, the smoldering 33-year-old magician who studied under David Copperfield, performed alongside David Blaine and is now razzle-dazzling fans of his own with tricks involving cards, iPhones and the occasional, eye-popping levitation. Read more:

NYC magician Oz Pearlman wins Long Island Marathon..

All smoke, no mirrors: The marathon magician made the competition disappear.

Oz Pearlman, a New York City-based magician and mentalist, led a pack of about 960 runners to win the Long Island Marathon on a sun-soaked day Sunday– a year after coming in second place in the race and two weeks after competing in the Boston Marathon.

Pearlman, 32, who crossed the finish line at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow in 2 hours, 25 minutes, 25 seconds, beat out second-place finisher Jerry Pannullo by more than 20 minutes. Pannullo, 45, of East Islip, came in at 2:46:51 and Brooklyn’s Viktor Chistyakov, 36, was third at 2:53:22. Read more at:
