The Carbonaro Effect – Thursday 7/10 @ 10pm

Michael returns this week with another array of sidesplitting tricks, starting with a stint as a local pet store owner. In the clip below, Michael hides a noise maker in his pocket when a customer asks him how big the bunny she’d like to purchase will get. He pretends to check by straightening the bunny’s joints like a chiropractor, which sets off the noise maker making it seem as if he’s just cracked its neck and spine. This instantly frightens his customer, thinking that he’s just killed her bunny- providing viewers with one hilarious reaction!

Illusionist Gillen plays mind games with his audience..

For a very long time, we thought of a good magician was someone who could make an intricate sausage dog out of balloons or pull a white dove from his inside pocket, but the new generation of magic men are very different, they want to bend your mind rather than your balloons. Dubliner Shane Gillen is a magician who is not afraid to admit he can’t actually make any animals out of thin air. But he can persuade you that your thoughts aren’t quite as private as you might think.

Shane has been earning money from his brand of magic for seven years, since he was 19 and on a J1 visa to San Francisco. He didn’t know that he wanted to become a magician and he didn’t write it down on the career guidance form. No, he enrolled in college for a degree in English, media and cultural studies. –

But one of his riskiest stunts was when Ben Hart stripped down to his underpants for a trick in an Ice Hotel.

Filming all day in temperatures of minus five degrees, he ended up with hypothermia and could barely talk.

It was for the BBC3 show Killer Magic, a new series which is going out in September.

Ben has already travelled around the world performing his act, even though he’s just 23.

But now he’s back in the UK, touring his show The Outsider which plays Stafford’s Gatehouse Theatre tonight.

Killer Magic is a competition among five magicians who are scored by audiences. The one with the lowest score has to take on a trick which has previously seriously injured or killed a magician…
