Cullen Bunn To Write New SHADOW Tale Featuring Houdini..

image  March 31st, 2014,.. Mt. Laurel, NJ: Dynamite Entertainment is proud to announce the signing of Cullen Bunn, who will pen a Shadow tale where he meets the elusive magician Houdini! And you can expect more to come from Dynamite and Cullen Bunn in the future!

“I’ve long been a fan of pulp heroes, and the Shadow was my introduction into that world,” says writer Cullen Bunn. “I remember my dad recounting adventures of The Shadow he had heard on the radio as a boy. And my dad could do the best imitation of the Shadow’s laugh! I like to think that he’d get a real kick out of me contributing to the legacy of the character. I know I couldn’t be more thrilled. In this tale, we see the Shadow infiltrating a secret society of magicians who are willing to do anything to lay claim to what might be the most forbidden of secrets. As the Shadow evades devious deathtraps, we learn that he has a connection to the greatest magician of all time.”

In The Shadow #0, secrets of the Shadow’s past are revealed as he meets Houdini! The Shadow infiltrates sanctum of an esoteric society of murderous magicians who are hellbent on escaping the ultimate trap–death itself! In order to thwart their plans, though, he must evade twisted traps and solve spellbinding puzzles. A good–or evil–magician never reveals his secrets… but the Shadow knows.

“We’ve wanted to work with Cullen for years, but knew it had to be something special,” says Dynamite CEO / Publisher Nick Barrucci. The Shadow #0 is that book, and fans will be amazed at the story that Cullen is telling. Happy to say that while this is our first project with Cullen, there are more to come.”

“Cullen is a fantastic writer and this should be the start of many projects with him here at Dynamite” – Joseph Rybandt, Senior Editor

Cullen Bunn is a freelance writer known for the comic books he has written comics for Marvel, including the popular Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe series, and has become increasingly popular with his Oni Press series The Damned and The Sixth Gun. Andrew Newman: ‘There are lots of challenges with Derren Brown’

Andrew Newman, an executive producer on illusionist Derren Brown’s latest Channel 4 show, in which he coaches pensioners to steal a Chapman brothers painting from an art exhibition, is no stranger to brazen stunts. Early in his TV career, Newman worked with Sacha Baron Cohen in his Ali G phase and Chris Morris on Brass Eye, so he should have a natural affinity with Brown’s high concept pranks.

As chief executive of Objective, the independent producer behind Brown’s TV output, Newman oversees a programming slate that mirrors his own background working on offbeat, sometimes spiky series. The likes of Peep Show, Fresh Meat and Toast of London – recommissioned for a second Channel 4 series last week – attract critical plaudits and industry awards, but not always large audiences.

What’s up with Kirby VanBurch? Fans report he’s a no-show at Thursday’s show..

It seems as if Kirby VanBurch, performer of what is billed as “the Worlds Largest Magic Show’ in Branson, Mo. chose not to perform Thursday night, despite having a full theatre..

Two different customers on TripAdvisor reported they arrived at the theatre early to get good seats and, at the scheduled show time of 8pm, they were informed that VanBurch failed to show and they would be refunded their ticket price.

A Magic News reader also reported that VanBurch ..”…unable to make it work under his present arrangement with Inderjit Grewal, the owner of Music City Center, reportedly wanting to breach his contract and go to another much smaller theater called the ICON (125 seats) to do what he is calling an “up close & personal show with Kirby VanBurch”.

This would be 11th such move among venues in the Branson area.
