Joshua Jay teaches life lessons through magic

While Joshua Jay hasn’t achieved the name recognition of David Copperfield, David Blaine or Chris Angel, his renown as a magician is global.
To date, the 1999 GlenOak High School graduate has traveled to 63 countries. “Every single one of them for magic,” Jay proudly noted in a recent interview. “It’s opened some amazing doors.”
Jay, whose specialty is sleight-of-hand magic often using playing cards, believes the secrets of magic are rarely limited to actual tricks.
“The greatest life lesson that magic has taught me is empathy,” said Jay, whose travels regularly include lectures as well as performances. “I have to anticipate what my spectators are thinking. It’s so important in business, relationships and friendships to accurately know what the person across from you is thinking.”
