Paul Daniels ‘to add magic to CBB’..

Paul Daniels and his wife Debbie McGee are the latest names to be linked to Celebrity Big Brother.

The magician and his assistant are reported to be headed into the Borehamwood house for Channel 5’s reality TV show, reported The Sun.

A show source said the couple are “very excited” to be entering the house, adding: “They’re perfect for Big Brother. They are great fun, big personalities and don’t take themselves too seriously.”

The pair, who have been married for 26 years, are no strangers to reality TV shows having previously appeared on The X Factor: Battle Of The Stars, Channel 5’s The Farm, and Channel 4’s Wife Swap. Paul has also been a contestant on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.

Gogglebox’s posh pair Steph and Dom Parker, along with George Gilbey, are also rumoured for the upcoming series, with other names including ex-The Only Way Is Essex star Lauren Goodger and former X Factor finalist Marcus Collins….

Its not a secret that I often fiddle around with magic tricks, its been one of my hobbies since I was a kid. It seems to me that Magic is coming into a new renaissance, with big screen movies like Now You See Me (which they are set to make a sequel) and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone (which they won’t be making a sequel), and this year alone has filled my DVR with magic television series, including the magic prank television series The Carbonaro Effect on truTV and Don’t Trust Andrew Mayne on A&E, CW is doing a US airing of the amazing British television series Penn & Teller‘s Fool Us(which will very likely spawn a new season with new episodes), the reboot of Masters of Illusion television specials from my childhood, Dan White‘s White Magic on Travel Network, and Comedy Central recently ordered Sleight of Mouth, a weekly comedy/variety/magic show starring comic/magician and TV host Justin Willman.

But one of the shows I’m most looking forward to is Wizard Wars which will begin airing on SyFy on August 19th at 10pm…

You probably have your own definition of athleticism, derived from some combination of skills that fits the traditional model. If you happen to rate athletic achievement by physical talent, strength, coordination, flexibility, dedication, body control and courage, a few guys stand out.

Those leather-lunged lunatics who climb Mount Everest without the aid of oxygen always come to mind first. If you think anyone can do that, offer them A-Rod’s money for incentive and his juice packs for energy. They still have a better chance of being eaten by a Yetti before they reach Base Camp.

But we also think of Philippe Petit, because in its purest form, courage is character, and character trumps everything – even in sport, where no victory can be as satisfying as one teetering on cataclysmic failure…
