No hard feelings after split with wife, Vegas magician says..

By Norm Clarke –  Las Vegas Review-Journal

The magic went missing in a flash from the marriage of magician Murray Sawchuck and his British wife and stage assistant Chloe Crawford.

“For me, it came out of the blue,” Sawchuck said Tuesday. “It happened overnight. It was like an avalanche.”

The split, after a three-year-plus marriage, came last week when they jointly filed for divorce in Las Vegas. Crawford is 27, Sawchuck 42.

Crawford, who has appeared in his Tropicana show and as a topless dancer in “Fantasy” at the Luxor, flew to New Jersey this week, he said.

“I know she definitely wanted to push her career forward,” he added.

She got a huge career break in June when she became the first female magician to reach the semifinals of “Britain’s Got Talent.”

“I hope this is the start of me being a magician in my own right,” she told the London Mirror. “I love the dancing, but there’s only so long I can carry that on for.”

Her disappearing motorcycle act was a hit, and her appearance generated a lot of headlines in her homeland.

“The taste of fame can be a bit like a drug,” Sawchuck said. read more…

Darcy Oake On Life After BGT..

As the latest series of Britain’s Got Talent draws to a close, Canadian magician is another contestant proving that you don’t need to win it for the show to kickstart your career. Kevin Cooper spoke to him ahead of a UK tour that includes his first date in Nottingham

It was a card trick his dad showed him when he was eight years old that set Darcy Oake on his journey into the world of magic and illusion.

Over here, we’d never heard of the Canadian until he appeared on last year’s Britain’s Got Talent but by that time he was already an international magic champion. At 16, he beat seasoned professionals at various events and ended up winning the coveted People’s Choice Gold Medal in Seattle.

Since then he has performed throughout Europe; from Paris to London, and across North America, from the heart of Times Square in New York City to the Las Vegas Strip.  Read more..

Britain’s Got Talent 2015: Jamie Raven divides Twitter as fans expose mind-boggling magic trick..

Britain’s Got Talent 2015: Jamie Raven divides Twitter as fans expose mind-boggling magic trick..

Jamie Raven magicked himself into the final of Britain’s Got Talent after winning the public vote in Wednesday night’s semi, but not everyone has been left impressed with his wizardry.

The magician asked 52 members of the live audience to think of an object and write the word down on a piece of paper. He then asked Alesha Dixon to shout ‘stop’ as he shuffled the pack of answers, before giving each judge a word.

Jamie proceeded to conjure up the objects from nothing – a goldfish for David Walliams, an ice cube for Alesha, a shoe for Simon Cowell and a helicopter for Amanda Holden (yes, really).

However, some viewers began pointing out flaws in Jamie’s trick, noting that he had taken off his shoe before Simon had said the word so must have known what it was beforehand.

The most beady-eyed Twitter users took screenshots of Jamie slipping off his shoe while working on Alesha’s ice. The cameraman and your TV’s rewind button have a lot to answer for. So does the person in the audience who wrote ‘helicopter’ but failed to make themselves known when asked by Simon.

“How do you think Jamie Raven conjured up a goldfish and a helicopter? Answer – He knew what was coming. Not magic, pure bluster #BGT”
