Magic Today Is Just Technology in the Future, Says Illusionist Marco Tempest (Video)

“Cyber illusionist” Marco Tempest has been using technology to pull off magic tricks on YouTube and at live events for years. But at the Code Conference today in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., Tempest explained that he has to follow technological progress closely — lest it put him out of a job.

“Science will make real what once was considered magic, which is why magicians must stay ahead of the reality curve,” Tempest said. “Magic is about making possible today what science will make a reality tomorrow.” Read more:

Keith Barry’s coming home for Christmas..

By Marjorie Brennan for the Irish Examiner

ILLUSIONIST, magician, mentalist, hypnotist — Keith Barry has been described as all of these.

However, above all, he says he is an entertainer. But he certainly has a magical way with audiences, whether on TV or the stage.

This year, Barry will perform to his home city of Waterford for its annual Christmas festival, Winterval. The illusion will be staged on the city’s Mall on Saturday.

Its top-secret details have been written down and will be stored in a tamper-proof exhibition case at the Waterford Museum of Treasures, at Bishop’s Palace. Members of the public are being invited to guess the illusion in advance, to win a family VIP package for the festival.

Barry was happy to take time out of his hectic schedule for the festival. “They approached me a while back and asked me to get involved, and, of course, I’m delighted to help with anything positive for Waterford. I was born and bred down there, so it’s a no-brainer for me, it’s a great festival for families and kids..

Illusionist Gillen plays mind games with his audience..

Illusionist Gillen plays mind games with his audience..

For a very long time, we thought of a good magician was someone who could make an intricate sausage dog out of balloons or pull a white dove from his inside pocket, but the new generation of magic men are very different, they want to bend your mind rather than your balloons. Dubliner Shane Gillen is a magician who is not afraid to admit he can’t actually make any animals out of thin air. But he can persuade you that your thoughts aren’t quite as private as you might think.

Shane has been earning money from his brand of magic for seven years, since he was 19 and on a J1 visa to San Francisco. He didn’t know that he wanted to become a magician and he didn’t write it down on the career guidance form. No, he enrolled in college for a degree in English, media and cultural studies. –

Magician extraordinaire…

Magician extraordinaire…

Yeevon Ong for the Sun Daily..

WHEN dream and reality collide, that’s where the magic happens. For Peter Marvey, that’s also where his world lies and where he gets his audience to revel in.

A renowned magician and illusionist, Swiss born Marvey has always been fascinated with magic since his early childhood – he’d made food he didn’t like to eat disappear. He also created his first illusion (a version of levitating girl) while he was in high school.

Fascinated by the world of mythical enchantment, he left his architectural studies midway, and began living his dreams delving into the world of wonders.

Famous for his signature piece, Dream Flying which took him seven years to master, Marvey regularly takes his magic on a world tour.

Having performed in over 30 countries in five continents, Marvey has earned multiple awards including The Golden Wand in 1996, Merlin Award for the Magician of the Year 2002 and Most Creative Illusionist 2009…
