What comes to mind when you read the word “magic”?
Wands? Doves? Tall black hats and puffy shirts? Maybe a douchey guy in Ed Hardy flexing his abs in a Vegas show? Even worse, maybe a little light misogyny – a woman being manipulated in a borderline-creepy way, being sawed in half, or vanishing altogether.

CLEVELAND, OHIO ‒ While some protesters shut down streets and caused skirmishes outside the Republican National Convention in Cleveland Wednesday, others took a more lighthearted approach when it came to spreading their message.
Demonstrators, who gathered in the city’s Public Square on the third day of the GOP gathering, spoke out on an array of issues and political candidates through vocal protests and signs, as well as invoked less traditional approaches.
Gilligan Garza, a Cleveland-based magician who gathered in the demonstration space, made his case for unity among all Americans, urging passersby to support him for president under the promise that he would “Make America Magical Again.” Read more…
TV magician Wayne Dobson was left paralysed after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.. At the height of his career, award-winning magician Wayne Dobson had his own prime-time television series which regularly drew millions of viewers. Having joined the Magic Circle at just 16 the handsome Leicester-born magic man shot to fame after an outstanding performance at the Royal Variety Show in 1989. Yet what his legions of fans didn’t realise then was that the previous year, at the age of just 31, he had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Now 59 he is in a wheelchair and paralysed from the neck down. MS is a neurological condition which affects 100,000 people in the UK, with symptoms typically beginning when people are in their 20s or 30s. Wayne became a household name on his TV show ‘A Kind of Magic’. Wayne, who suffers from fatigue, and impaired speech, relies on a team of carers to get him out of bed, fed and dressed. The impact of MS has been completely life changing but he refuses to let the condition dent his passion for work or his happy-go-lucky outlook on life. Read more..
