The new promotional film for Stockholm by the illusionist Charlie Caper is a jaw-dropping experience. Sitting behind a table with the Swedish capital in the background, the magician performs the most amazing card tricks to illustrate one message: the success of Stockholm “is not a coincidence”.

The video went viral and has already more than half a million views on Youtube.

Among the film´s supporters was British comedian and writer Stephen Fry who expressed his feelings after watching the act: “Goodness!”.

A renowned magician and illusionist, Swiss born Marvey has always been fascinated with magic since his early childhood – he’d made food he didn’t like to eat disappear. He also created his first illusion (a version of levitating girl) while he was in high school.

Famous for his signature piece, Dream Flying which took him seven years to master, Marvey regularly takes his magic on a world tour.

Having performed in over 30 countries in five continents, Marvey has earned multiple awards including The Golden Wand in 1996, Merlin Award for the Magician of the Year 2002 and Most Creative Illusionist 2009…

In “Think Like A Freak,” the new book from “Freakonomics” authors Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner, Stone explains why the average 8-year-old is much better than even the most brilliant adult at seeing through a magician’s illusions.

The theory is based on the idea that kids operate without a lifetime’s understanding of how the world works, “and magic is all about turning your assumptions and expectations against you,” Stone says. “When you’re pretending to shuffle a deck, they don’t even notice you’re shuffling.”
