Production Begins on truTV New Series “The Carbonaro Effect,” Starring Comic Magician Michael Carbonaro
Series Slated to Premiere in Summer 2014
Production has begun on truTV’s brand new series The Carbonaro Effect, starring comic magician Michael Carbonaro. The series, formerly titled Undercover Magic, follows Carbonaro as he uses his skills to trick, amaze and amuse an unsuspecting public. The Carbonaro Effect is being produced for truTV by Fields Entertainment and 11 Television, with Simon Fields and Kevin Healey serving as executive producers. truTV has ordered 12 episodes of the series, which is slated to premiere in summer 2014.
Michael Carbonaro is a magician by trade, but he’s a prankster at heart. In each episode of The Carbonaro Effect, he will perform baffling tricks on people in everyday situations, all caught on hidden camera. Posing as an ordinary bartender or a seemingly unremarkable salesman, Michael astonishes marks by turning a tuft of hair into a puppy or pouring 12 pints of beer from an ordinary bottle. Whether the marks are alone or with their friends, everyone is left stunned and delighted, even though they have no idea what just hit them.
Actor, magician, comedian and improv artist Michael Carbonaro is a familiar face to television viewers thanks to his appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He has also played roles on Happily Divorced, The Newsroom, 30 Rock, Wizards of Waverly Place, CSI: Miami and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Michael hosts and performs shows of comedy, magic and other weird acts at various clubs around New York and Los Angeles, including Joe’s Pub, Caroline’s On Broadway, The Box and Hollywood’s Magic Castle. Michael is an OutFest Best Actor Award winner, as well as a two-time nominee for the Academy of Magical Arts “Magician of the Year” Award.

The Burlington Post is reporting the passing of Brian Michaels.
An award-winning magician and illusionist who once toured with Céline Dion has died.
Brian Moynagh, who went by the stage name Brian Michaels, died at Toronto General Hospital on Friday, Feb. 7.
He was 39. There is no word on the cause of death.

When professional magician Kevin Spencer suffered head and spinal cord industries in a near-fatal car accident, he wondered if he would ever be able to perform again. Months of physical therapy showed him how hard it was to stay motivated to keep working to heal.
That was in 1988. Today, he’s taken that experience to build “Healing of Magic,” a program that uses magic tricks as a form of physical and psychosocial rehabilitation.
