“Sir Sean Connery paid my mortgage”.. Says retiring Magician..

RELAXING in his cosy bungalow in a quiet County Durham cul-de-sac, Nick Richmond is in no doubt of the huge debt he owes Sir Sean Connery.

“He’s paid my mortgage, cleared my credit cards and taken me round the world,” says Nick. “Oh yes, I owe him an awful lot.”

At 67, and after more than 30 years of being a full-time Sean Connery lookalike, he has finally decided to hang up his white tux and his decommissioned Walther PPK pistol, and he’s learning what it’s like not being 007’s double.

“It feels strange but the time was right. Sean’s given me a wonderful life but the travelling was getting me down,” he says.

It all began in 1985 when the post-Bond Connery made a film called The Name of the Rose. It was the first time he’d dispensed with his toupee and grown a beard..  Read more.. (and Thanks to Michael Lyth for the link..)

Mo Magic brings his theatre show to the Bay..

HAVING astonished, amazed and entertained a number of celebrities, personalities and members of the public on season one of his weekly prime time TV show titled Magic with Mo on SABC3, South African magician Mo Magic takes his theatre show to audiences across SA and will make a turn in Port Elizabeth on Saturday, May 7.

A first of its kind for SA, the TV show gained a tremendous following from the viewing public and rose to being the second most watched South African TV show on SABC3 behind Isidingo.

Additionally, the only international shows with larger viewerships were Bold and the Beautifuland Days of our Lives, both on air for decades with a long standing following. The magician said, “I’m thrilled the TV show was so well received. South Africans are clearly appreciating the art of magic and I’m honoured to be sharing it with them.”  Read more…

Michael Carbonaro has wowed audiences with his mind-bending tricks for almost two years on truTV’s “The Carbonaro Effect,” but is it all fake?

The magician responded to criticism of his hidden camera prank show on Monday by posting an unedited video of one of his performances for the series. The 33-year-old said he’s aware some viewers may think his illusions are done in front of hired actors and that multiple takes of each trick are shot, but claims that’s not the case.  Watch videos at:
